The Action: A quiet, uptown street is growing to include more multi-million dollar houses, such as this detached, three-bedroom house with an attached garage on a 45-by-100-foot lot. It netted a $1.45-million deal following a three-way bidding war and a flurry of activity, from 20 showings to agents and public open houses.
What They Got: This 62-year-old residence has more entertaining areas than sleeping quarters with a fireside living room, dining area and sunken family room addition with a gas fireplace, skylit vaulted ceilings and patio exit, plus a fireside recreation room in the basement.
Updates include new roofing, wiring, plumbing and heating, as well as a remodelled eat-in kitchen and second floor bathroom, which is the largest of four.
The Agent’s Take: “It’s a very small enclave that feels a bit like country in the city with winding and tree-lined streets,” agent Sue Mills says. “It almost feels magical in there, it has a very different feel from the surrounding neighbourhoods.”
The property itself is nearly 20-feet wider than those in surrounding neighbourhoods, so its design was equally enchanting.
“It’s a Cape Cod, storey and a half, which isn’t a common style in Toronto … so it was a neat house because it appealed to both first-time buyers and young families, but also appealed to people downsizing,” Ms. Mills states.
“It offered a private drive and garage, and it had a main floor family room and powder room. It’s hard to find those features in this price range.”
